Brand Design

Maât

Project Overview

Role
Art Director

MAÂT is a curated concept brand focused on minimalist fashion and design objects, shaped by ideas of harmony, restraint, and thoughtful consumption. Built around monthly capsule collections, the brand offers a quieter and more considered alternative to the speed of trend driven culture.

As Art Director, my approach was to create a visual identity that feels calm, intentional, and fully resolved without becoming cold or overly minimal. I am interested in design that creates atmosphere through clarity, where typography, spacing, imagery, and material choices work together to communicate a distinct point of view. For MAAT, that meant building a brand system that feels refined and structured, while still leaving room for texture, nuance, and visual softness.

⟣ Editorial Approach to Brand Identity

The identity draws from editorial design principles, but the goal was not simply to make the brand look clean. It was to create a sense of pace, stillness, and visual balance across every touchpoint. I used typography, spacing, and composition to give the brand a strong sense of order, while allowing the imagery and overall presentation to feel quiet, elevated, and deliberate.

⟣ Brand System and Guidelines

A full set of brand guidelines was developed to define how the identity should be used across print and digital applications. More than a technical document, the system was designed to protect the tone of the brand by giving collaborators a clear framework for type, layout, image treatment, and overall consistency. The goal was to make the identity usable without losing the restraint and clarity that give it its character.

⟣ Designed for Physical and Digital Touchpoints

Because MAÂT lives across packaging, printed materials, social content, and ecommerce surfaces, the system needed to feel consistent in very different contexts. My approach was to create assets that could move across those applications without losing their sense of precision or atmosphere. Whether applied to a product tag, a business card, or a digital touchpoint, the identity was designed to remain cohesive, intentional, and visually calm.

✦ Project Insight

What interests me most in a project like this is how much can be communicated through restraint. With MAÂT, the challenge was not to add more, but to make every choice feel more considered. I wanted the identity to feel clear and lasting, while still carrying warmth, taste, and a strong editorial sensibility. For me, the success of the project comes from that balance between structure and atmosphere.
