Art + Design Director

Hi, I’m Mike Steven François, an Art and Design Director with over a decade of experience across editorial, brand, and digital design. My work is shaped by a strong sense of narrative, structure, and visual clarity, using design not just to make things look compelling, but to give ideas form, direction, and presence.

I’m interested in the decisions behind the image: what creates rhythm, what builds meaning, and what makes a visual system feel coherent from beginning to end. Whether I’m working on a publication, a brand identity, or a digital experience, the goal is always the same: to create work that feels intentional, distinct, and built to last.

❖ Journey

Throughout my career, I’ve moved between editorial, brand, and digital work while keeping the same core approach: build the idea clearly, shape the structure carefully, and make every visual decision serve the larger experience.

At MR Magazine, I led a redesign that brought more clarity, rhythm, and a sharper contemporary edge to the publication’s editorial language. As the founding Art Director of No Chaser Magazine, I developed a visual system that balanced refinement with flexibility, helping establish a distinct voice in style and culture.

Beyond editorial, my experience extends across brand identities, campaign materials, packaging, event visuals, and digital content. What connects the work is a focus on creating visual systems that feel cohesive, intentional, and grounded in a clear point of view.

❖ Design Ethos

For me, design is at its best when creativity is guided by intention. A strong visual outcome is never just about style. It comes from understanding what the work needs to communicate, how it should be experienced, and what gives it lasting presence.

I approach design through an editorial lens, thinking in terms of pacing, hierarchy, contrast, and visual rhythm. Whether the outcome is expressive or restrained, the goal is to make the work feel clear in its thinking and precise in its execution.

❖ What I Do

‣ Editorial Designing publications and visual narratives with a focus on rhythm, hierarchy, and storytelling.

‣ Identity Building visual systems that give brands clarity, distinction, and a consistent point of view.

‣ Digital Creating digital experiences that translate strong visual thinking across screen based formats.

‣ Direction Helping shape the creative approach behind a project, from concept and structure to the final visual language.
